Remington T Studio Thermaluxe Review

The Remington T Studio Pearl Ceramic Professional AC hair dryer is a popular budget-priced hair dryer. The purple and gold design along with a four year warranty makes you feel like you’re investing in a great product. We decided to check out the Remington T Studio Luxe to see if it’s actually as good as it looks. In this review, we’ll tell you everything you need to know about this hair dryer plus why we gave it 4.2 stars.

We Liked:

  • It’s affordable.
  • It comes with a nice accessories kit including attachments.
  • You can easily remove the filter for cleaning.
  • The cord is a fabric, tangle-free cord.

We Didn’t Like:

  • The cord is really short, only five feet long.
  • The accessories and attachments seem like they are easy to break.
  • The buttons are in an awkward spot.

Features of the Remington T Studio Hair Dryer

Technology

The Remington T Studio hair dryer employs a ceramic ionic technology to dry hair gently and reduce frizziness. This type of technology is great for damaged hair because it dries hair quickly without having to expose it to harsh, extremely hot temperatures. It also dries quicker than traditional hair dryers so the hair isn’t exposed to the heat as long as it would be with traditional hair dryers.

Attachments

Unlike most hair dryers, the Remington Thermaluxe hair dryer comes with quite a few accessories and attachments. It comes with three hair clips that you can use to section off your hair, a diffuser for curly hair, and a concentrator for smooth hair. This gives you a full hair drying solution for any type of hair on a budget.

Warranty

The average warranty for a hair dryer is one or two years. Remington offers a four year warranty for the Thermaluxe. This is a great protection to have because it can be a big factor in swaying a customer’s decision to buy the Thermaluxe instead of some other hair dryer.

Fabric Cord

A fabric power cord can sometimes be a lot easier to manage than a regular one. Fabric cords can be wrapped and/or stored more easily than traditional power cords. They’re also more flexible to allow for easier movement.

Is The Remington T Studio Good?

We gave this hair dryer a 4.2 star rating. We came up with this rating by rating certain individual criteria then taking an average of all the ratings. That average gives you a really good idea of where the hair dryer stands compared to similar ones on the market. The criteria, along with short explanations, are below.

Ease of Use – 3.5
The buttons are in an awkward position and the handle isn’t ergonomic. It’s also a bit on the heavy side.

Durability – 4.5
The hair dryer is high quality and has a four year warranty in case of malfunction. The accessories could use a little help with quality.

Heat Output – 4
It gets really hot, but there is little difference between medium hot and high hot.

Price – 5
This is a budget-priced hair dryer. It’s got great features and an amazing warranty for the price range that it’s in.

Options (settings) – 4
With three heat settings (not including the cool shot) and two speed settings, and both settings being independent of each other, this is impressive for a budget-priced hair dryer.

Power – 4
Although this is an 1875 watt hair dryer, there is little difference between the low speed and high speed settings other than how loud the hair dryer is. However, it does blow sufficiently enough for the quick drying of fine to medium hair. Thick/curly hair will take longer.

Our Opinion of the Remington T Studio Thermaluxe

Efficiency

This hair dryer is a great basic hair dryer. The manufacturer spouts advanced technology and to reinforce this, they gave the hair dryer a full name: Remington T Studio Pearl Ceramic Professional AC hair dryer. No matter how many fancy words are in the name, it still performs like any other inexpensive ceramic hair dryer.

Usability

The Thermaluxe has a few design flaws that might make it slightly awkward to use for long periods of time. The hair dryer is a little on the heavy side. There are heavier hair dryers, but a hair dryer weighing less than the Thermaluxe’s 1.65 pounds is preferable. The buttons are also in an inconvenient spot. They are in the place that your fingers would rest when you’re holding it and since the buttons are rocker buttons, it’s easy to inadvertently press one while drying your hair. Based on these two design flaws, we don’t think that this is the most easily used hair dryer.

Overall Assessment

While the price is right for this hair dryer, overall it’s not the best or most comfortable hair dryer to use. It does dry your hair quicker than Remington’s basic hair dryers so if you want a good, cheap hair dryer without a lot of frills, we recommend this for you.

How Does The Remington Thermaluxe Hair Dryer Compare?

We’ve given you our opinion and we think it’s only fair to show you how this hair dryer stacks up against others on the market. We’ve compared it to three other hair dryers: the Dyson Supersonic hair dryer, the Conair Infiniti Pro hair dryer, and the Drybar Buttercup hair dryer.

Remington Thermaluxe vs. Dyson Supersonic

Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer

Comparing the Thermaluxe to the Supersonic is like comparing a bicycle to a Bentley. In fact, the Supersonic is one of the most expensive home hair dryers available, but it earns every dollar. These hair dryers are completely different, with the only similarities being that they both have a cool shot button and both come with a concentrator and diffuser attachment.

Technology and performance sets these two hair dryers miles apart. While the Thermaluxe uses a common ceramic technology, Dyson created their own technology for the Supersonic. The Supersonic has a digital motor that produces a patented air multiplier technology to create the airflow and heat needed to dry hair. It also has a microchip sensor that measures the heat 20 times per second to ensure that you don’t overheat your hair. The Thermaluxe doesn’t have anything close to this type of technology. We’ve highlighted some other differences in the chart below.

Remington Thermaluxe vs. Conair Infiniti Pro

New Conair Infiniti Pro Blow Dryer Review

These two budget-priced hair dryers have a lot of similarities. They are similarly priced, have similar settings, and incorporate similar technology. Both companies have good reputations in the hair care industry and, to top it off, they both offer four year manufacturer warranties on the hair dryers. In fact, the only major difference is that they are manufactured by two different companies.

If we had to choose one, we’d probably lean towards the Remington simply because their reputation is slightly better than Conair. Also, the Conair is very heavy compared to the Remington. Below is a quick view chart of the the few minor differences that may make you take one dryer over the other. Other than the qualities in the chart, the hair dryers are exactly the same.

Remington Thermaluxe vs. Drybar Buttercup

Drybar Buttercup Blow Dryer

These two hair dryers are at opposite ends of the price spectrum (not quite as far as the Supersonic), but the Drybar Buttercup doesn’t always live up to its price tag. In general, the Drybar Buttercup is similar to the Thermaluxe, a hair dryer that produces negative ions for quick drying with three heat settings, two speed settings, and a cold shot button–but the efficiency of the Buttercup is more reliable. What’s not more reliable is the working parts of the Buttercup. It gets a lot of complaints about it breaking within months of purchase. On top of that, the Buttercup only has a two year warranty compared to the four year warranty of the Remington. If we had to pick one over the other, we’d go with the Remington because it’s a better long-term investment.

Conclusion

The Remington Thermaluxe is a decent hair dryer if you are looking for a low-cost hair drying solution. It’s a hair dryer that gets the job done without bells and whistles. We were most impressed with the durability and the warranty. With inexpensive hair dryers you always run the risk of them breaking down quickly, but the Thermaluxe has great reviews of it being reliable. We recommend this to anyone who needs an inexpensive hair dryer.
