Elchim 3900 Healthy Ionic Ceramic Hair Dryer Review

Italy gives the world more than great food and an attractive tourist destination. The Elchim 3900 Healthy Ionic Ceramic Hair Dryer, made in Italy, is an amazing high-end hair dryer that can leave your hair smooth, silky, and frizz-free after you dry it. We rated this hair dryer a 4.2 out of five stars and in this Elchim 3900 hair dryer review, we’ll tell you why we think this is the best ionic hair dryer on the market.

Pros and Cons

  • The dryer has a high wattage rating of 2400 watts.
  • It has an electromagnetic wave protection system (Low EMF).
  • The dryer has a built-in silencer and is very quiet compared to similar hair dryers.

  • The handle is designed to distribute the weight over the forearm, saving your wrist a lot of movement and future pain.
  • Many people said they had issues with their power button getting stuck.
  • On the first use, it may have a very bad, burnt smell.
  • The cord is very short–only eight feet long.

Key Features

Ease Of Use – 5/5

This hair dryer is extremely easy to use. First off, it’s lightweight so you don’t have to worry about arm, wrist, or hand fatigue. The handle is made ergonomically to make it easier to hold and the buttons are placed out of the way of your fingers so you don’t accidentally trigger them.

Durability – 4/5

The Elchim 3900 Healthy Ionic Ceramic Hair Dryer is a well-made dryer and works wonderfully when you use it. Although it does work great, the parts feel cheap. This means if you drop it once, you’re probably going have problems or it might just stop working overall. Despite this, the dryer comes with a limited lifetime warranty. Because it has this type of warranty, this makes us feel better about the cheap parts because the company obviously has faith in their product.

Heat Output – 4/5

The Elchim 3900 gets hot but it isn’t the hottest hair dryer on the market. Many people tend to confuse high watts with heat, but this isn’t the same thing. Drying your hair with too much heat can damage it, so you don’t necessarily need the hottest dryer to have a good hair dryer.

Price – 4/5

When considering a purchase of an Elchim 3900 hair dryer, keep in mind that this is a high-end hair dryer. If you want this hair dryer, be prepared to spend three figures. The good news is that it’s in the lower price range of the high-end hair dryers so it won’t break the bank.

Options (settings) – 3/5

We gave the options a three star rating because there isn’t really anything special about the options. This hair dryer has the same basic options as any other ionic hair dryer. It features a cool shot button, three heat settings, and two speed settings. Some hair dryers only come with two heat settings, so having three is a small bonus, but not enough to bump it up by a full star.

Power – 5/5

The power of the Elchim 3900 makes up for the lack of heat. The Elchim 3900 has a very high wattage rating of 2400 watts. This means that it has the power to really blow. Since this is a ceramic ionic dryer, it doesn’t necessarily need the highest heat to dry your hair fast. Because of the power that this dryer has, we give it five stars.

Elchim 3900 Hair Dryer Review

We came across the Elchim 3900 Ceramic Ionic Hair Dryer in our search for the best ionic hair dryer on the market. While we won’t go so far to say that it has the best of everything, we will say that it has the best of everything you need to dry your hair. Not only will this hair dryer give you perfectly dried locks, but it will also help to reduce frizz and give you smooth, shiny hair.

All hair dryers claim to do this, so what makes the Elchim 3900 special? Well, for starters it has a mix of ceramic and ionic technology. The ceramic portion ensures that your hair is infused with moisture while the ionic technology gives you a fast dry without frying your hair. These technologies together give you healthy, shiny, gorgeous-looking hair.

The hair dryer only comes with a concentrator attachment which is great, but it would have been nice if it came with more than one attachment. This is especially true for a diffuser attachment. If you have thick, curly hair, a diffuser attachment is a must. The good news is that Elchim does offer a dual-purpose diffuser attachment separately so you aren’t completely out of luck. Sure you’ll have to spend a few extra dollars, but you will have what you need and will get the most out of your Elchim hair dryer.

While the hair dryer is of great quality, there is one major drawback that keeps it from being a perfect five. It has a really short cord. Eight feet sounds like a lot of length but it isn’t. You’re basically stuck at the outlet. You probably can’t freely move around like you’d want to. If you are a professional, this probably isn’t the right hair dryer for you since you’ll need to be able to reach your clients in a chair.

How Does It Compare?

Elchim 3900 vs. Elchim 2001

Elchim Classic 2001 Dryer

The Elchim 2001 is an older model hair dryer than the Elchim 3900 and usually costs about 25 percent to 50 percent less. The warranty is one similarity. They both have a lifetime limited warranty. Other similarities are the same number and type of included attachment, and the cord on both is 9 feet long. Important differences are:

The Elchim 3900 vs. the Turbo Power Twinturbo 3800

Turbo Power Twinturbo 3800

The Turbo Power Twinturbo 3800 is a little more advanced than the Elchim 3900. They both are ionic ceramic dryers that have cold shot buttons and technology that makes them quiet, but ultimately they have more differences than similarities.

These hair dryers are very similar and both are recommended for all hair types and the TwinTurbo 3800 is good for beginners since you are less likely to damage your hair with it.

Final Thoughts

If you want a high-end dryer, but you don’t want to spend to much money, the Elchim 3900 is a great middle-of-the-road priced hair dryer that has amazing benefits. While it doesn’t have the most features, the ones it does have work great to give you smooth, shiny hair in a much shorter time than the average ceramic dryer. We recommend this dryer for home use but not professional use due to its short cord.
